My 15 Most Important Video Games of the Decade: Full List

What follows is a the complete top fifteen list I posted over the past five days. In case anyone came to this late and wanted to just see the whole thing in one go rather than clicking around a bunch of links. The following is a top 15 list of the most important video games of the decade, not a critical or quality one. Rather, it’s the games that meant the most to me on a personal level.

Some of these were very time and place experiences that I might not readily go back to. But they all meant a lot to me at some point in this past ten years and I just wanted to share that all with everyone before I get swamped with games I never end up playing this decade.

Halloween Video Game Events: Doing it badly and doing it goodly

Tis that season again, the one some people wait all year for. Which I find kind of bizarre personally. Halloween just doesn’t have the same gravity here in the U.K. as I think it does in the U.S. It all seems a relatively toothless affair meant for kids yet to arrive in their teenage years. Normally, I’d ignore the event like the big grump that I am.

But in video games, Halloween is one of those unifying events that seems to take everything that is great about the holiday and throw a party for all of their players to enjoy: The seasonal event.

Apex Legends and their gilded ladder to nowhere

As a new event crests over the horizon for a popular video game, it’s inevitably accompanied by the not so distant yells of outrage for some reason or another. Not to undermine the perpetually hot topic that is cosmetic microtransactions in video games, but when it comes to Apex Legends, I can’t help but air on the side of a big ol’ shrug… Hey, anyone else smell hypocrisy in here?
