What’s with all the video game mechanics in anime?

There’s a lot to be said about the sheer amount of isekai being adapted into anime these past few years. Stories about normal neets/office workers getting bumped into by Truck-Kun and then waking up in a fantasy world. Sometimes with a ridiculous superpower, sometimes without. But almost always being overpowered through some kind of advantage, be it natural or not.

2021 Spring Anime Season Roundup

Was this a good anime season? I feel like I lagged behind pretty much the whole thing and had to go back to catch up on pretty much everything after the fact. Although maybe that was more of a case of me not having enough time to do pretty much anything these days. All in all, I feel like I still got a fair bit of anime watching in there. I finally saw Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train

It feels like a million years since I got to sit in a cinema and watch a movie. It feels even longer since I last got to talk about Demon Slayer… I guess that’d be because those two statements are relatively accurate. I’m really happy that my first time back in a cinema in over a year was to see this movie, because for a while I didn’t think we’d be getting it here in the U.K. at all.

It’s been so long since I thought about this series that I worry I can remember just how to cover it. I guess there’s no way of knowing until I just dive in and get on with it.
