The Misfit of Demon King Academy and another rant about overpowered protagonists

Considering the extra effort I made to watch more anime this season, I can’t really say that most of what’s on offer has blown me away. I’m aware that I’ve been kind of negative on my blog recently, but I don’t feel any need to sugar coat my feelings regarding this season, especially with how many interchangeable shows we’ve been getting. None more so than The Misfit of Demon King Academy, which I’m pretty content in dropping now.

The Unpopular Opinions Film and TV Tag (East vs West Edition)

I feel kind of bad, I essentially inserted myself into the nominations when Pinkie of Pinkie’s Paradise covered this tag last week and it’s taken me this long to actually write mine in response. Maybe it hasn’t actually been that ling, but it feels like it.

The premise of this tag is to answer a bunch of questions regarding what I perceive to be an unpopular opinion. I found this tag pretty interesting conceptually for a couple of reasons. First off; there’s something weirdly appealing about watching people bucking the mainstream and having these unusual opinions on things most people see as a subjective truth.

Is there a best way to consume Anime? – Binge vs. Episodic

I’ve been watching a lot of anime these past few weeks. Some of it out of pure enjoyment, some out of the tense obligation I’ve created for myself to write a series in which I review three episodes of a new anime and decide whether I want to continue it or not. During this time, I’ve found myself jumping onto my favourite series as soon as an episode comes out, catching them once a week.

While other shows have been ones I’ve just watched back to back to back. Doing all of this, I’ve noticed that how I respond to an anime does seem to be impacted by how I consume it. In fact, there have been some shows I’ve really loved this year that I’m not sure I would have felt the same way about had I not binged a ton of it beforehand before catching up.

So it begs the question, is there a “better” way to watch anime?
