For Archival purposes, I thought it might be a good idea to compile my entire top ten lists from 2020 into a single post. Just to make it easier for people to go back and look at them after the fact. So, without any more fluff, here are my favourite 10 games I actually found the time to play in 2020.
Like with every year I do this list, there is some part of me that really can’t decide which game I’m going to put at the top of my list. Like last year, I was torn between two games that were a bubbling simmer over the course of the months or a short, brilliantly bright flash when it first game out.
On both occasions, I’ve opted to go for the bright flash of a game. My logic being that if I finish a game and then it’s still on my mind so many months later, despite not touching it since, the surely it’s going to be one that I need to celebrate a little bit more than the game I’ve been picking up here and there throughout the year.
You can disagree with me if you’d like, but I’m not sure if you can really argue that this game isn’t a worthy contender for any game of the year list no matter who you are.
These last few days of the year seem like they’re going on forever. I wish so much that 2021 could be like a big reset, but I know in my heart that the first quarter of next year is just going to be more of the same.
If anything, the whole “* year was the worst year” sentiment seems to apply to every year this past decade. It makes me wonder if we’re doomed to have everything suck from now on.
Not exactly the celebratory tone I wanted these best of year posts to carry really. But that’s the mood of 2020, isn’t it. So let’s cheer ourselves up by talking about some happy animals for a while.
