This, what I assume to be the climactic battle of this arc, seems pretty predictable to me all things being considered. Which isn’t always a bad thing, but I’m really of two minds with Dragon Ball Super and how by the book it wants to end up being. Toriyama was traditionally a pretty subversive storyteller. But when it comes to the climax of his more recent story arcs, the later in life he gets, the more it feels like we can see it coming.

Dragon Ball Super Manga – Chapter 76: The Fate of the Saiyans
Y’know, I was thinking this fight could go in any number of different ways. I’ll admit that an introspective teaching moment from Vegeta wasn’t one of them. When I’m around the time of reading the chapter and writing this review afterwards, I try to avoid as many opinions as I can. Especially considering how paper thin the average nuance of a Dragon Ball fan tends to be.
They generally tend to miss the entire point of the chapter when it’s actually trying to say something. Given that is the exception rather than the rule when it comes to Dragon Ball.

Well, Vegeta is a big trailblazer these days isn’t he. The question of this chapter was always going to be whether Vegeta’s new transformation was going to get the hype and payoff that he probably deserves at this point, being his own personal parallel to Ultra Instinct. Seems like a silly question in retrospect, this is Vegeta we’re talking about after all. Although that doesn’t mean this chapter could still impress all the same.
