This intro is going to be pretty brief, I just finished an 11 hour night shift at work and then immediately went to see the new Star Wars movie. So I’m flagging a little bit and need to get some sleep as soon as possible before I have to go back to work tonight.
We’re getting towards the end of the 5th part of Jojo’s Bizarre adventure, and for the life of me I still don’t think I have a real grasp of what it is Giorno Giovanna’s stand actually does.
I’ve always been drawn to superpowers and special abilities in fiction, as most nerds have. Superheroes, wizards and Jedi. These extraordinary powers create limitless opportunity for unique storytelling. Not just that though, it’s seeing how the writers can continue to write around these imposed abilities with their limitations and come up with creative ways to have them evolve and grow.
This was just some prime Jojo this episode; one part action sequence in which people describe their abilities slightly quicker than I could follow, and a second part of people standing in stunned silence, unable to make a choice before eventually executing an overblown gesture of solidarity. It’s good stuff.
With the events of episode 21, It appears we really are moving from the A side of the story to the B side, in which the entire dynamic between our cast changes, as well as the dynamic between them and the people who will inevitably come after them. Although, let’s be real, they’re still going to be fending off massive shit heels with not a moral quandary to be seen.
