3 Episode Rule – Sakugan

3 Episode Rule is a series in which I watch the first three episodes of a new anime and decide whether to stick with it or drop it based on those three episodes alone.

Sometimes, you see a show or movie and know you just have to check it out. That was the exact case with me and Sakugan, something about the look, the tone and the style of this show just drew me in. Based on a novel called Sakugan Labyrinth Marker, at a glance this series feels like it’s paying tribute to shows like Gurren Lagann and also has the feel of Deca-Dence from last year.

Honestly, the whole thing has something of a Trigger feel to it. Not sure if saying that is disrespectful to Satelight who made this or not in anime circles…

Dragon Ball Super Manga – Chapter 77: Bardock, Father of Goku

It’s time for some exposition! After all these months of fighting, a little change of pace is welcome. To be truthful though, I’m not sure I would have ever guessed where this story would end up going. Flashing us back to the past and revealing that all of our heroes and villains are much more connected to one another than we first thought.

But hey, Bardock gets his very own chapter in the manga. The old guy has been a fan favourite for so long, nice to see him get some love in an official source. Well, outside of the briefest of snippets he got in the Broly movie. Although not everyone might be too pleased with the direction this one is going with his character.

3 Episode Rule – takt op.Destiny

3 Episode Rule is a series in which I watch the first three episodes of a new anime and decide whether to stick with it or drop it based on those three episodes alone.

Takt op.Destiny comes from both MAPPA; who are responsible for Yuri on Ice, Jujutsu Kaisen and Zombieland Saga and was made in co-development with Madhouse; the studio that brought us A Place Further than the Universe, Death Note an the incredible first season of One Punch Man. I’m not usually a guy who follows studios too closely, but these two coming together to make this anime was reason alone for me to take an interest in this one.
