Spyro Reignited Reviews: Does Spyro 2 hold up as well as we remember it

Jumping straight from the first game into this second one, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage was the game of the trilogy I was most interested to play again. Or Gateway to Glimmer, as well called it here in the U.K. anyway.

A jump up in story, scope, accessibility and variety. Spyro 2 was one of my favourite games after it came out, playing it to 100% over and over again. I was real interested to see how the reignited set brought it to the modern era.

Spyro Reignited Reviews: Spyro the Dragon

When That Crash Bandicoot trilogy came out last year, all I could think was one thing: When Spyro!

Insomniac’s three original Playstation Spyro the Dragon titles were amongst my favourite Playstation games growing up. They were some of the earliest I remember being able to 100%, and so I played them over and over. It was also one of my earliest memories of following a developer, playing the Ratchet and Clank series afterwards because the same people were making it.

I was really excited to get my hands on these games again, especially two and three, having played the original again not too long ago. Even now, I remember these games being the antithesis to Crash Bandicoot.

Where Crash was unforgivingly brutal in its difficulty, Spyro was a more laid back and relaxing affair. As I play through the trilogy I’ll give my thoughts on each game in turn, starting with the original: Spyro the Dragon.

Lego Overwatch: Is that it?

We live in a time where there are venn diagrams crossing all kinds of our interests these days. You only gave to pop into an HMV to find novelisation prequels focusing on classic Disney villains, Funko Pops based on any character under the sun and Lego doing pretty much the same thing also.

Like any self respecting 30 year old man, I enjoy a bit of Lego, and anyone who has spent any time reading my stuff also knows I am actively still a fan of Overwatch. The cross over of which has been no big secret amongst fans of either property for a while now. However certain it was to happen though, I was always a little doubtful as how Lego could really capture Overwatch in a set.
