Why I can’t connect with Twitch

Twitch is the biggest broadcasting format on the internet right now, specifically, but not exclusively, when it comes to video game content. Once upon a time, Youtube was the haven for video game focused content creators. But, by their own hand, that’s not really the case any longer.

As much as I continue to watch and enjoy content on Youtube, many creators I enjoyed have started to split their attention between it and Twitch, some making a more permanent move there that I don’t feel like I can’t follow.

The Teasing Lore of Overwatch

The end of April also marked the end of Overwatch’s latest seasonal event; Retribution. This event was a part of the recently named Archive series of events. A number of times a year, to coincide with particular real world celebrations, Overwatch holds time limited events which introduce new cosmetic items and game modes for its players. Archives are different.

The Archive events are unique because rather celebrate any real world occasion, they’re a focus on a piece of the game’s own lore and backstory in the form of co-operative gameplay style event. In this case, Retribution was the tale of when Overwatch’s black ops unit lost their anonymity and Gabriel Reyes started down the slippery slope that would turn him into “The Reaper”.

How the MCU could salvage the Fantastic Four

Disney seems like an insatiable eating machine, taking in other companies at a worrying rate, leading us ever closer to the megacorporation future so many of our favourite dystopian science fiction movies and books predicted. It’s not all bad though, Because Disney’s aquitisiton of 20th Century Fox for a staggering $52.4 last year means that Marvel movie fans get to see their favourite properties back together again. That’s a decent trade for an inevitable cyberpunk future. Right?

While most people’s initial gut reaction would be how the new status quo would affect the upcoming X-Men and Deadpool movies, I’m going to pose a different question: How could the MCU salvage the Fantastic Four from the near unsalvageable position that the previous three movies have left Marvel’s first family. And potentially how soon could the group find themselves in the mix after Infinity War.
