Here we have it, the final episode of the series, one that no doubt many people were super excited to see reach its conclusion. Much to my own surprise, it’s one I come out of with some really mixed feelings about. Not something I was expecting to say going into this one considering how positive I’ve been about the series as a whole so far.
Specifically, I’m mixed on the ending of this episode and one major choice that weirdly bummed me out. Especially considering this moment is going to be something that elates the vast majority of the fandom. But I’ll get to that further down the post. I’ll even highlight it so you can skip right to it if you want to.
Without a doubt, the second season of the Mandalorian has outdone the first in every respect. In this, the penultimate episode of the season, we take one final breather before Mando and his gang of mercenaries plan their daring rescue of Grogu from Moff Gideon. And for an episode that Rotten Tomatoes has deemed the second weakest of the series so far, I found this to be a fascinating look behind the curtain.
Just when I didn’t think this series could get any more exciting, it goes and pulls this episode out of its back pocket. I knew my previous assessment of the episodes alternating between being amazing and just good was never going to last, now as the series approached its final stretch I’ve never been happier to be wrong. Nor could I ever predicted what was going to happen in this episode; as so many little factors start to come together.
