The Inevitable sequels to games that never needed them

Franchising is both a miraculous gift and huge crutch when it comes to media. Without it, we wouldn’t have the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the continuation of Star Wars. Which is great, but not everything was born to be a franchise, sometimes a single movie/video game is all you need. One that sets out to tell a story and spread its message, then it’s done all tied up in a neat little bow as this self contained gem.

Then that story becomes popular, makes a lot of money and people start asking when the story is going to continue. Missing the entire point that the story was only so good because it existed in its own little bubble.

I haven’t been convinced I need a new video game console

I’m going to tempt fate and say that we’re about close enough to the release of Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles that we pretty much know what we’re going to be getting on day one. Well, we don’t know how much we’re going to have to pay for them just yet, but for the sake of argument, let’s say the price isn’t going to be a factor in the following rant. With everything we do know, I don’t think either of the major console makes have done a good enough job on selling their new platforms whatsoever.

The truth of Animal Crossing’s busy work has just slapped me in the face

Da I was always wary of getting into Animal Crossing, because I knew just how hard I would fall into it. I know what I’m like and I knew Animal Crossing would become all consuming for weeks or months after picking it up. Which is exactly how it turned out when it came out back in March. Now though, just four months removed, the burning hot intensity with which I played that game is been reduced to ash, scattered to the wind.
