For all the talk I’ve done about movie and television adaptations of video games and comic books needing to show some kind of reverence to their source material, the Sony line of Spider-Man spinoff movies are in a unique position where they really can’t be as true to the source material as they need to be.
I only just finished Marvel’s Spider-Man, but it’s already become one of my favourite games of the year. It’s faithfulness to, not just the original source material, but so many other aspects of the franchise is one of the many things that made me love the game.
This is no more prevalent than in the collection of costumes available to unlock and use throughout the game. Not just that, but this is the best these suits have ever looked by far. Using the photo mode, it’s possible to see a level of detail to lesser known costumes such as the Scarlet Spider outfit that I never knew was possible.
With me making the rather bold statement recently that I’m getting a little bored with there being so many Superhero movies each year. I thought I’d put my apathy to the test and see just how done I seem to think I might be when it comes to watching these movies. I’ve looked up all of the live action movies coming out this year based on Marvel Comic book characters, and the single one DC is putting out. I’ve gone against my personal rule of trying to avoid as much information about these movies as possible and read every synopsis and watched every available trailer for them.
I’m going to be listing them in the order they’re due to come out throughout this year. And I’ll just give my honest feelings about where In sit with them right now. But if my lack of enthusiasm for Thor and Guardians 2 last year is anything to go by, I’m going to be a mostly unimpressed chap I think.
