Wooderon’s favourite Video Games of 2019 – #8

It occurs to me that I wrote an entire preface to this year’s end of year post series, and then in all the rush of my stupid working schedule, I ended up forgetting to post it. For the most part it was me talking about how I’ve seen basically no new movies this year and how my gaming habits have changed once again.

Today’s game is a little more old school in the regard that it’s not an online, it’s not a live game. Instead it’s a narrative driven action game that bears more than a few telltale marks that makes it very recognisable as coming from the developer it comes from. Which is always nice, there is only so much room for live games in my life.

Wooderon’s favourite Video Games of 2019 – #9

I’m most of the way through my top ten and I’m finding ever more games that I’d forgotten I’d missed. I honestly can’t understand people saying this was a weak year for video games. Next year is going to be the weird one, what with so many games not coming out till the very end of the year along with the new consoles.

I know I already rewrote my 2018 Game of the Year list a few weeks back and not much changed. I really want to get to the half dozen games I missed in the next six months and see how this list changes, because it’s going to be a much more difficult top ten to compile after I’ve gone back and done that I think. Which isn’t to say the games I’m talking about here are undeserving, I’m just some weird kind of completionist when it comes to making and compiling ordered lists.

Wooderon’s Favourite Video Games of 2019 – #10

The talk on the street leading up to the end of 2019 is that it’s been a pretty weak year for video games. Personally, I feel like this is a pretty ridiculous statement. Whilst compiling this list, I ended up with a shortlist of about 14 games I really enjoyed, as well as six or seven games I was really bummed out I could never get around to. And I’m sure at least two of those would have snuck onto the list also.

It ends up being the same story as least year for me, only cranked up another level. Moving out on my own, as well as starting a new job, I’ve had way less money and time to purchase and play all of the games I was interested in playing this year. That, plus live games like Destiny and Overwatch continued to carve out a significant chunk of my time, as the number of live games I like continues to grow.

I can only list what I’ve played though, and I’m sure that once I catch up, this list might change. As with my anime list, this top ten is not one of quality or craftsmanship, rather it’s a list of the games that meant the most to me this year on a personal level, either through pure enjoyment or whatever other reason I blather on about on the day:
