My brain is a mess of static, I’m jumping between so many reviews and top ten lists right now that I’m struggling to keep my brain straight about what I’m talking about. It’s really a pain that some of the best T.V. I’ve watched all year is coinciding with my busiest blogging and working time of the year. Seriously, all the best stuff of 2020 has been packed into its final two months.
Oh well, I guess there are worse problems to have.
We open on a scene that shows us Yoshino does actually have some friends, although they bail on him pretty quickly when some highly violent school bullies show up. I swear, I try to push high school out of my mind as much as I can these days, but I don’t remember it being full of downright psychotics like this.
I mean, yeah this is an anime about literal monsters made of negative energy murdering people. But I dunno, there’s something about the extreme violence high school students use in their bullying of one another and get away with it scott-free really bugs me for some reason.
As we open this episode, we do so not with Itadori, but of some other high school kid. One who is targeted and bullied by his classmates for no real reason other than they find it funny. In fact, we get a quick crash course as to why people suck and why this kid hates everyone around him. While getting bullied, a teacher spots it happening out of the window and does nothing. The kid is obviously frustrated by his own life and wants some way, any way to lash out back at life.
