Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – a Happy Casualty of this War’s Propaganda

You watch one cute anime girl compilation and YouTube’s video recommendation algorithm will never let you forget it. On the upside though, the relentless barrage of anime clips brought Kaguya-sama: Love Is War to my attention. And never before have I fallen for a show so hard so quickly. Despite the fact that the show seems to stray from its own premise almost right away.

Thanks to it’s silly starting premise and a very catching opening, I ended up watching the whole series so far in an evening and it quickly charmed me on a level I was not expecting. The overly dramatic nature of characters and their constant game of one-upsmanship against one another is offset by unexpectedly sweet it can be at times.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime – Easy Mode can Be kind of Dull

If there was one thing I have picked up on from the online anime community when it comes to the Isekai genre; it’s that there are far too many Isekai shows out there are the moment. I can kind see why too, just browsing through the recent updates on Crunchyroll, the number of them I can spot is more than a modest amount to say the least. It might be this bias that has subconsciously caused me to avoid the genre for the past 12 months.

For those of you who don’t know what I mean by “Isekai”, it’s basically a translation of “different world”, and is the type of show where a protagonist from the “real world” is transported into a fantasy world, or a video game, or their favourite manga. In almost all cases though, while also being in a fantastical (and often hostile) world, they have some kind of advantage over the rest of the people in the world. Be it their more modern knowledge, access to technology from their own world or they’re simply ungodly powerful.

Mob Psycho 100 Episode 5 – Discord ~Choices~ Review

I foresaw this episode going in a very different direction at the end of the previous week’s. I can’t saw I’m disappointed to be wrong, especially when what we get instead is a masterfully animated test of Mob’s ideals.

Mogami has trapped Mob inside a simulated reality in which he not only lacks his powers, but all of the social connections in his life as well. Trapped in a world where everyone uses and abuses him relentlessly for six months, even Mob has broken down into hopelessness.
