New to this series? Obviously, this is my first entry. But why not start by reading my preamble to this series before cracking on with this one. Which I’ll be updating as I continue to write more.

To begin my series of talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the beginning; We dig into 2008’s Iron Man. The first big movie release from Marvel Studios, when the wider MCU was but a glint in their collective eye.

There is a lot I could dig into when talking about this movie. But the most appropriate point feels like how this movie was acted as the springboard that launched the thing that altered the course of movies for the coming decade. And how we ended up losing something along the way.

Revisiting the MCU: The Prodigious Preamble

For some time now, there’s been something that’s been niggling at the back of my mind. A thought that’s been growing in its weight and urgency by the four month period. As my growing collection of Blu-Ray’s stares, disappointingly at me, I feel the need to go back and work my way through them again, right from the beginning.

The problem is; the longer I wait, the more daunting of a task this becomes. As the sheer number of super hero movies movies goes up and up, my desire to consume all of it seems to drop. At this point, the prime MCU movies are the only ones I’m still seeing.

Excitement and Misgiving for the Star War: The Rise of Skywalker Trailer

Finally, after months of waiting, the trailer and the title for the new Star Wars movie has dropped. Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. As a title, this isn’t one I think I could have predicted, the thing that shocked me even more than the title itself though was the general reaction to the trailer online; which was wholly positive.

One of the last times I spoke about the Star Wars movies in any great length, it was unfortunately a piece to lambaste the fan base for their utterly pathetic backlash in response to The Last Jedi, and their targeting of particular people they (incorrectly) deemed responsible for their displeasure. Not liking a movie if fine, acting as though they had a right to do the things that were happening is not.
