For someone who claims to have no interest in the Isekai genre of anime, I feel like I spend more time talking about it than I probably should. Really though, it’s just my continuing amazement at just how many totally uninspired and super generic Isekai stories keep getting green-lit when there is so much actual potential for the genre on a conceptual level.

We Never Learn – Harem endings are for cowards
I’ve made this confession once before, but I’ll go ahead and make it again; towards the end of last year while writing my top ten anime of the year list. Ever since the first season of Kaguya Sama: Love is War ended and I needed to know what was going to happen; I fell into a deep manga hole. One I’d say I am comfortably circling the rim of these days.
It’s strange though, despite my childlike attraction to all of these action shows when watching anime, when it comes to Manga, I’m almost exclusively drawn to comedy, romance and whatever you call that weird combination of the two.

Shonen’s Double Edged Sword 2 – Undermining the Underdog Story
I was listening to Podcasts, trawling for good blog ideas to steal as you do, when the topic of shows outgrowing their initial premise came up. The example used was based on a concern that My Hero Academia could go in the same direction as Naruto did and end up forgetting the story it set out to tell in the first place; that of the underdog.
