For Archival purposes, I thought it might be a good idea to compile my entire top ten lists from 2020 into a single post. Just to make it easier for people to go back and look at them after the fact. So, without any more fluff, here are my favourite 10 games I actually found the time to play in 2020.
This episode is a treat, right from the start you can tell there is a different weight of animation behind this one, as we dive right into a fight between the Sorcerers and Mahito. The curse creature’s ability to alter his shape makes for a battle full of surprises, as he continuously laughs and cackles his way through the entire fight.
Experimenting with his own powers and trying out new moves as he does so. There is a childlike mindset to this character, as though he found himself in a brand new body and it fall over himself to see all the different things he can do with it. He’s enjoying himself so much that he’s coming very close to dangerously underestimating his opponent.
Like with every year I do this list, there is some part of me that really can’t decide which game I’m going to put at the top of my list. Like last year, I was torn between two games that were a bubbling simmer over the course of the months or a short, brilliantly bright flash when it first game out.
On both occasions, I’ve opted to go for the bright flash of a game. My logic being that if I finish a game and then it’s still on my mind so many months later, despite not touching it since, the surely it’s going to be one that I need to celebrate a little bit more than the game I’ve been picking up here and there throughout the year.
You can disagree with me if you’d like, but I’m not sure if you can really argue that this game isn’t a worthy contender for any game of the year list no matter who you are.
