What could a Sonic the Hedgehog movie Sequel become?

This is another post that has been sat in my drafts for a while, me putting it in when I heard the inevitable news that the live action Sonic the Hedgehog movie was getting a sequel. Quite possibly the least surprising movie news I’ve heard all year. Like I said when I talked about the movie shortly after seeing it, the whole thing only really felt tangentially related to the franchise it was named after. So what piques my interest is what route this sequel might pursue.

The Sonic The Hedgehog movie is a kid’s movie first and a Sonic movie second

I’m probably more surprised than anyone that I actually went to see the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Having very loudly dusted my hands of the entire franchise more than once, but low and behold, I found myself with a day off and trying to decide whether to go and see Birds of Prey, 1917 and one other movie. So of course I got to see this damned one.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie might not look perfect, but at least it looks a whole lot better

Sonic the Hedgehog. Perpetually popular and yet constantly the butt of all of our jokes, well at least pretty much since he started talking. The latest, and arguably biggest butt for the collective internet to make fun of this past year has been the Sonic the Hedgehog live action movie due to come out In February.
