Anime 3 Episode Rule – Sonny Boy

3 Episode Rule is a series in which I watch the first three episodes of a new anime and decide whether to stick with it or drop it based on those three episodes alone.

Every time I do this series, there is always a “just one more” series I end up watching. Usually going into it totally blind and on a whim. Sonny Boy was that series for me this anime season. Jumping into it based on the look of the show and the single paragraph promise of “kids with superpowers” in the description.

3 Episode Rule – The Aquatope on White Sand

3 Episode Rule is a series in which I watch the first three episodes of a new anime and decide whether to stick with it or drop it based on those three episodes alone.

I decided to take this series on for little other reason outside of it being a slice of life show set within an Aquarium. I don’t know if it comes from growing up in one of the most landlocked parts of the U.K. but I’ve always had this obsession with the Ocean, sea-life and visiting Aquariums.

It was only after picking this series up that I realised it was from P.A. Works; the studio behind another series that someone managed to jump out at me last year: The Day I became a God. While I ended up feeling pretty mixed on that series by the end, it was a genuine personal story that kept me hooked all the way till the final episode.

3 Episode Rule – The Detective is Already Dead

3 Episode Rule is a series in which I watch the first three episodes of a new anime and decide whether to stick with it or drop it based on those three episodes alone.

When you realise the first episode of a new series you might be watching is 40 minutes long, you can really go one of two ways on it. Coming into this show completely blind, it made me a little apprehensive. I made the choice (mistake?) of watching all three episodes back to back.

Sometimes that has an effect on my response to the series, although this time I feel like my feelings would have been the same on The Detective is Already Dead regardless of how I shoved it down my peepers.
