Wooderon Anime of the Year 2018: #4

My Christmas holiday is almost over already. Oh, the never ending grind of retail. One thing that never took a break through was my unenviable task of making over 20 posts in 13 days. It might seem like cake to more of the gifted bloggers out there. But again, retail. Also, I’ve got Overwatch and Destiny Christmas events to try and participate in. Have you no sympathy for me and my very real and serious problems. Anyway, enough waffle, let’s get on with it shall we.

Wooderon Anime of the Year 2018: #4

Today’s entry shows that sometimes, you don’t have to hang your show on a huge concept or gimmicky spectacle. Sometimes, if you just need to nail the basics and tell a simple story to an incredibly high standard. It’s really all you need to do to make a great show.

I’ll keep you in anticipation for a moment longer though as I give my current list leading up until today:

#10: Goblin Slayer

#9: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

#8: The Ancient Magus’ Bride

#7: Golden Kamuy

#6: Attack on Titan

#5: Hinamatusri

Now I’m done eating for a few days I hope, I can just lie back, relax and watch some good old Christmas anime. Oh wait, we went over this before didn’t we. Oh well, between all the Home Alone, Die Hard and Muppet’s Christmas Carol, I’m guessing I’ll manage to squeeze in some trashy anime. Although what I’ve got to talk about today is anything but trash.

Wooderon Anime of the Year 2018: #5

Today’s entry probably exists as the show I never actually expected to love, let alone watch in the first place. It’s a reminder that I need to continue broadening my horizons with the medium, especially when looking at the shows I’ve still got to talk about. With a mixture of shame and no regrets.

Before we get to that though, let’s recap once again:

#10: Goblin Slayer

#9: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

#8: The Ancient Magus’ Bride

#7: Golden Kamuy

#6: Attack on Titan

Wooderon Anime of the Year 2018: #6

You don’t see a huge amount of Christmas in anime, I mean, it’s not a widely celebrated holiday over in Japan, and yet it does exist to some extent. It just doesn’t feel like I can make a strong connection to Christmas when talking about an anime. I’m not going to pretend I know if there is any connection in the culture whatsoever. Instead I’m going to be off somewhere eating and drinking myself to bursting point and not thinking about this posting going live whatsoever.

Wooderon Anime of the Year 2018: #6

I thought long and hard about whether this entry should be swapped with Golden Kamuy that came before it. They both share a lot of my headspace, although not for reasons you might be expecting. It’ll probably become more apparent the more I talk about today’s entry though. Because on the surface they’re two totally different shows.

As per usual, here’s the list as it stands:

#10: Goblin Slayer

#9: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

#8: The Ancient Magus’ Bride

#7: Golden Kamuy
