The Misguided Narrative of Kingdom Heart’s Narrative

Now before you get your hopes up, this isn’t going to be a review of Kingdom Hearts III. In fact, as of this moment, I don’t actually have any plans to play Kingdom Hearts III at all. Before you may assume I am just going to rag on the convoluted story line for this long running franchise, bear in mind it’s but one of many reasons this game isn’t a “must play” for me.

Okay, so yes. One of the biggest reasons is the narrative that’s been spun up online in the lead up to this game’s release. One that is being overblown, but is not without some significant sized grain of truth at its core. In terms of the franchise’s overaching story; it actually really is the inscrutable mess that so many YouTubers want you to believe it is. In theory, I’d need to make the effort to understand it all if I wanted to get the most out of Kingdom Hearts III.

Dragon Ball: Project Z Reveal Trailer Leaves Me Totally Underwhelmed

Bandai Namco teased the release of a brand new Dragon Ball game a few weeks ago. A mysterious new Action RPG only going by the name Project Z. And with all eyes on the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals this past weekend, there was no better time for them to put out a reveal trailer. So far, whatever Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 have got cooking up, it’s not doing a whole lot for me.

The main issue I have with what they’ve revealed thus far is that it lacks any substance, any real hook or selling point to make it stand out from games like Xenoverse 2 and Fighterz, games they, themselves name drop in this trailer.

What’s going on for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

We’re living the dream. By we, I mean the nerds who grew up reading comics and being the stereotypical unpopular kids. And by dream, I mean it’s a time where characters like Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and god damn Rocket Racoon are showing up in well made, popular mainstream movie franchises.

What's going on for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

And as overwhelming as it can feel for some of us. This train that seems to keep gaining speed with no sight in end, so much so that it will either result in a huge fireball or the train passing through dimensional barrier, transcending known genre and entering a new plain of existence…  Erm. I’m saying super hero movies aren’t going anywhere for a while.
